Apple iPhone 16: From Action button to new chipset, everything we know so far | Technology News

In just a few months, Apple is all set to unveil its iPhone 16. Although Apple is tight-lipped as usual, countless rumours about the purported features of the next generation of iPhones are making the rounds on the internet. The vanilla version of the new iPhone is poised to bring several new upgrades and may even borrow the new Action button from the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Last year, Apple added a new physical button dubbed the “Action button” which lets users do anything they want it to. From toggling flashlight to launching ChatGPT in voice mode, the Action button can also be used for actions or initiating a FaceTime call.

According to MacRumors, the iPhone 16 is also said to get the new Capture button, another physical button that will work like a camera shutter to capture photos and videos. On the design front, the iPhone 16 might look just like its predecessor at first sight, but rumour has it that the tech giant is changing the camera lens orientation from diagonal to vertical to capture Spatial Video.

Speculations suggest the upcoming iPhone will have the same screen size as its predecessor, but Apple might opt for a more power-efficient material for the display. Apple might also be working on new chips for the iPhone 16 series built on TSMC’s 3nm node.

While we have no concrete details about the same, the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus may be powered by the Bionic A18 whereas the Pro models is said to get the Bionic A18 Pro. The new phones are also expected to feature a new graphene-based thermal design aimed to fix heating issues.

Festive offer

Another rumour suggests that the iPhone 16 will be available in seven colours – blue, pink, yellow, black, green, white and purple. However, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims the upcoming phone will come in black, green, pink, blue and white.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 16 series in the second week of September, with the smartphones going on sale the week after. However, there is no word if the tech giant will keep the price of the phones same as last year or bump it up a bit.
