Another sportswear brand is setting up shop in Paris. Swiss running brand On recently opened its first French store on the Rive Gauche, and Canadian outdoor apparel brand Arc’teryx is also about to make a grand entrance on the French market. On February 9, Arc’teryx will open a prominently placed shop-in-shop at La Samaritaine luxury shopping complex in Paris.
“The carefully curated 80-square-metre retail space on the ground floor of the Rivoli building features a minimalist design inspired by nature, and offers an immersive experience referencing the topography of the city of Paris and its surroundings,” said Arc’teryx in a press release. The shop-in-shop will showcase a range of performance and functional items from Arc’teryx’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection.
It will be a first point of contact between the brand owned by the Amer Sports group and its Parisian clientèle, before Arc’teryx will establish a much more extensive presence in the city’s Marais district.
In the coming weeks, before the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, Arc’teryx will in fact open a two-storey flagship at 42 rue des Francs-Bourgeois, in an area with a strong fashion flavour – Sandro, Uniqlo and Zadig & Voltaire have stores nearby – ideal to showcase the brand’s performance apparel to Parisians and tourists alike.
The premises extend over nearly 300 square metres, and were previously occupied by Calvin Klein, which opened a store there in 2020. The PVH-owned US label has in the meantime found a location for a new Parisian flagship on the Champs-Elysées.
Arc’teryx was founded in Vancouver, Canada, and recently launched the Veilance line, targeting affluent urban consumers. The brand is actively expanding its international retail footprint, and recently boosted its London presence by opening at the Battersea shopping mall and in the Covent Garden area. It also recently unveiled an innovative retail concept in Shanghai.
Arc’teryx is available globally at some 3,000 stores, including over 60 monobrand stores. The Amer Sports group is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and its Canadian brand’s retail expansion is a fine example of its commercial dynamism.
