Arshdeep Singh is on the verge of breaking multiple T20I records, including becoming the Indian pacer with the most wickets in a year and surpassing Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s career tally of 90 wickets.
New Delhi: India began their T20I series against South Africa with a dominant victory in the first match on Friday (November 8). They now face the Proteas again in the second match of the series at Gqberha on Sunday (November 10). Arshdeep Singh, who took one wicket in the first match, will be aiming to improve his performance in the upcoming game. The left-arm pacer is also on the verge of breaking a significant T20I record for India.
Arshdeep Singh claimed the wicket of captain Aiden Markram in the very first over of the innings during the opening T20I, bringing his career tally to 88 wickets from 58 matches. If he takes two more wickets in the second T20I, he will surpass Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s record of 90 wickets and become the pacer with the most T20I wickets for India, with 91 scalps.
Hardik Pandya is also in pursuit of the record, having taken 87 wickets in his T20I career. If he claims four more wickets in the second T20I against South Africa, he will surpass both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh, becoming the leading wicket-taking pacer for India in T20Is.
