Aspirant Commits Suicide Over Poor Performance in UP Police Constable Exam

A 24-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after he was unable to perform well in the Police Constable Recruitment Exam.

Bareilly: A 24-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after he was unable to perform well in the Police Constable Recruitment Exam. Yogesh Kumar from Saidpur Manjha village of Fatehganj East area hanged himself to death late Saturday, Faridpur Police Circle Officer (CO) Gaurav Singh said, news agency PTI reported.

Kumar’s body was found in his rented room in Faridpur, and no suicide note was recovered from the scene, Singh added. Kumar’s father, Ajaypal Yadav told police that his son was preparing for the constable recruitment exam for the last five years.

As per police, Kumar took the exam in Rampur district on Friday in which he performed poorly. The body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is underway, the CO added. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board(UPPRPB) will conduct the UP Constable Civil Police Direct Recruitment Examination 2023, on August 23, 24, 25, 30, and August 31, 2024. A total of  60244 Constable posts will be filled through this recruitment drive.

UP State Transport Corporation is providing free bus services to candidates, including complimentary travel on electric buses in several districts. The fresh recruitment exercise to fill over 60,000 posts was necessitated after the exams which were supposed to be held on February 17 and 18 were cancelled following allegations of a paper leak.

The five-day exercise, which began on Friday, will conclude on August 31. The examination is being held in 67 districts of the state.
