Reschedule ICAI CA Exams For May 2024 Fairly: Aspirants Appeal to PM Modi, Election Commission of India

Postpone ICAI CA Exam Date 2024: The chorus to postpone the ICAI CA Intermediate and Final Exams 2024 from May to June is growing louder. CA students are once again urging the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) to reconsider the schedule for the CA Intermediate and Final Exams 2024. Students claim that it will be impossible to take examinations during elections. Students assert that apart from elections, there are numerous other factors impacting their preparation and the exam timetable.

“As a concerned citizen and a voter registered in Andhra Pradesh, I find myself in a challenging situation where my exam center in Hyderabad is located approximately 500 kilometres away from my voting location. This distance poses a significant barrier for me to exercise my democratic right to vote in the upcoming elections,” a user wrote a letter to the Election Commission of India. Disheartened and frustrated students have taken to various social media platforms to express their concerns and disappointment regarding the revised exam dates for ICAI CA exams.

Tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Election Commission of India, and ICAI, CA aspirants have urged them to consider postponing the Intermediate and final examination from May to June 2024. Earlier on March 19, 2024, the Institute released the ICAI CA Intermediate and Final Exam Revised Schedule. The exam dates were revised in view of the Elections to the 18th Lok Sabha across India. As per the updated schedule, the ICAI Group -I Intermediate Examination will be held on May 3, 5, and May 9, 2024. Meanwhile, ICAI Group-II Intermediate Examination will be conducted on May 11, 15, and 17, 2024.

The ICAI CA Group-I Final Examination is slated to be held on May 2, 4, and May 8, 2024. The ICAI CA Group-II Final Examination will be held on May 10, 14, and May 16, 2024. “Reschedule the ICAI Exams for May 2024 fairly! The ICAI must reconsider the “reasonable demands” of the CA students concerned and reschedule the CA exams for May 2024 after the Lok Sabha elections. The students’ interests cannot be ignored by an educational body of national importance,” a user wrote on X.

Urging PM Modi and the Election Commission of India to look into the matter, a user wrote,”@narendramodi @ECISVEEP . Around 4 lacs CA students would find very difficult to vote this time as exams are kept by icai in the month of May 2024. Its highly impossible for students to invest their time to go and vote during exams. Kindly postponed it to June.”

“Plz look into the matter of ca inter and final exams it will be not possible to students to give exam in elections but icai scheduled exam in between election so it’s our humble request to @narendramodi to look into this matter plz,” another aspirant wrote.

Echoing similar concerns, another aspirant wrote,” please sir postponed the ICAI exam of ca inter as their dates are clash with election date and on these days there is so much traffic in cities which make difficult for student who travel 100 kms for exam please sir postponed the exam.”

“Due to the noise and disturbances students can’t focus on exams properly Preparing for the CA exams is a rigorous undertaking, demanding our full attention and dedication. With exams scheduled during the election period, many students will be forced to choose between appearing for the exams and casting their vote. examination centers are far from the home town so it is not possible for student to cast there vote and attend exam. During elections all the transportation system is busy student can’t move to their home towns to caste the vote. Moreover, a substantial portion of students registered for these examinations resides in metropolitan areas, while their native addresses are often in distant hometowns or states. This geographical barrier severely restricts their ability to travel back to their hometowns to cast their votes, thereby infringing upon their constitutional right to participate in the electoral process,” another aspirant wrote.

As of now, ICAI has not released any official statement regarding this matter. The Candidates are advised to note the above and stay in touch with the website of the Institute, www.icai.org.
