Australian gin Four Pillars voted world’s best for a third time at International Wine & Spirit Competition

Australia is again home to the world’s best gin after taking the crown for a record third time.

Victoria’s Yarra Valley-based gin distillery Four Pillars was named 2023 International Gin Producer of the Year in London on Thursday.

It is the first time any gin producer, let alone Australian distillery, has won the award three times at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.

Four Pillars won the same accolade in both 2019 and 2020.

And sealing Australia’s ranking as a top gin-making nation, fellow Aussie distillery Kangaroo Island Spirits was also in the top 3 short-list.

Four Pillars expressed its gratitude at receiving the highest accolade for gin producing.

“This is the first time anyone, ANYWHERE has been named world’s best gin maker three times! Wow,” Four Pillars wrote on Instagram.

“This December, it will be just 10 years since we released our first batch of Rare Dry Gin, made in our mate Rob Dolan’s shed.

“We have a nicer home now, but it’s still about making gin in the exact same way, with an absolutely legendary gin family, in the most delicious place on Earth.

“We are quite blown away and we’re going to spend the day celebrating and letting it sink in.”
