Aussie singer-songwriter Amy Shark is celebrating the major moments during one of the busiest years of her career.
She has just released her new album Sunday Sadness and is about to embark on a tour across the country following a stint earlier in the year as a judge on Australian Idol, which is up for a Logie award on Sunday night.

Sunday Sadness is Shark’s third album, and she says she believes she is “a lot more prepared and composed this time round”.
“You learn so much each album you release,” she tells 7NEWS.com.au.
“I have a handle on my emotions now. So, I can write melancholy songs without it affecting my whole mood.
“I also dabbled in some pop punk, which was a lot of fun. This album is very guitar-heavy, and I love that for me.”
The singer thinks of Sunday Sadness as “11 mini-stories” fans can listen to from start to finish and “immerse themselves in every feeling”.
“I feel like anything you do a lot, you naturally get better. I feel like I’m getting better at telling stories and coming up with melodies.
“This album is a body of work (as) opposed to a bunch of good songs thrown on a record.”
Fans will soon get to experience Shark’s latest work live, with her The Sadness Tour kicking off in October.
Shark says “showcasing all the new songs with bright lights and pyro” is the best part of touring.
“Not to mention all the favourites and some deep cuts too! The whole show is emotional, entertaining and personal,” Shark adds.
This year has marked her second as a judge on Australian Idol, during which she mentored emerging talent while crafting her latest album.
The 38-year-old says having “a small hand in helping break new Aussie artists” is why she returned to the role.
“Everyone works extremely hard on that show. It’s also such a lovely work environment, which is hard to create while balancing the pressure and passion of such a high-quality television show.
“Everyone loves coming to work, which is why I keep coming back.”
Shark will be representing the show at Australian television’s night of nights, the Logie Awards on Sunday, August 18, at The Star Sydney.
She is encouraging supporters of the show to go online and vote, because of the new talent getting their big breaks from Australian Idol.
“So many unique voices and different walks of life really showcasing Australia’s talent and setting musicians aside in such a drenched market!” she says.
“This show gives artists a very big spotlight.
“I will be there and will dress as nice as I possibly can,” Shark adds, joking that she “is a last-minute girl” in terms of a red carpet look.
