Located at 273 Lafayette Street, the new store marks a significant step in the brand’s global expansion as it celebrates its ten-year anniversary in 2024.

“Axel Arigato NYC signals our continued drive and ambition for global growth in our tenth year of business,” said Albin Johansson, CEO and co-founder of Axel Arigato. “The USA is a hugely important market for us and has long had a loyal customer base. We’re so excited to finally welcome them into a physical space, showing them the full breadth of our brand.”

The 1,130-square-foot space was created in collaboration with Halleroed, the architectural studio that has helped shape Axel Arigato’s retail presence across Europe. True to the brand’s Scandinavian roots, the store champions minimalism characterized by natural stone, man-made metal fixtures and scaled materials.

European travertine monolithic podiums display Axel Arigato’s signature products, illuminated by natural light from floor to ceiling windows. A gridded spotlight system and integrated speaker setup add functional yet sleek design elements, a nod to the brand’s connection to music and live in-store events.

The store houses its signature footwear styles such as the Dice, Area, and Clean 90, as well as select ready-to-wear pieces. Beyond retail, the store aims to be a cultural hub with events, activations, and collaborations centered around music, art, and design, creating a gallery-like experience for visitors.

The store opens with a limited-edition capsule collection exclusive to its New York location, featuring items like black t-shirts, caps, grinders, and rolling trays with “Arigato NYC” branding.  As part of the opening, Axel Arigato will also host a series of exclusive events starting in September, spanning music, art, and workshops.

Jens Werner, creative director of Axel Arigato, added: ”New York means so much to so many people. To finally have a space where we can bring all these people together is so exciting – and it is our ambition to nurture, explore and collaborate with long-standing and new friends.”
