Bad news for China as US makes plan to counter Chinese attack on Taiwan, to station its troops in...

Japan and the United States have taken a crucial decision in wake of Taiwan’s security. The US Army will establish a makeshift military base at Japan’s Nansei Island and one in the Philippines. At these bases, the US Army will deploy missile units. This plan will be formulated in the month of December.  This will be the first joint operation between the United States and Japan where the two nations will put a combined effort for Taiwan’s security., Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported.

The exercise is being seen as to counter China’s any provocative step or attack on Taiwan in the future. China claims Taiwan as its territory and President Xi Jinping openly claimed on Taiwan.

As per the news agency, the US Army would deploy missile units to the Nansei Islands of Japan’s southwestern Kagoshima and Okinawa prefectures, and to the Philippines. The news agency cited that the U.S. Marine Corps’ Marine Littoral Regiment, which is equipped with High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and other weapons, would be deployed. HIMRAS is capable of launching multiple rockets.

The photographs of HIMRAS were taken at an American training centre in Japan’s Okinawa in 2020.

According to reports, American Marines will gain access to smaller areas near Taiwan’s geographical boundaries, with Japan’s Self-Defense Force providing them with arms and ammunition.

The US Army will also deploy a long-range fire unit Multi-Domain Task Force in the Philippines.
