Irish actor Barry Keoghan has been named as its newest brand ambassador by one of Britain’s foremost luxury fashion brands, Burberry.
The actor is best known for his role in Christopher Nolan’s World War Two film Dunkirk, but was also praised for his performance in The Killing of a Sacred Deer and received a BAFTA for his performance in Banshees of Inisherin, as well as a BAFTA nomination for Saltburn.
The appointment isn’t a surprise given that he’s already been linked to the brand and last year attended its Summer 2024 show and the Met Gala as the label’s guest. He’s been spotted in Burberry at other events too, such as the European premiere of Apple TV+’s Masters of the Air, the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards and Burberry’s recent Winter 2024 show.
He said he’s been a long-time fan of the brand while Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee said he’s known him for more than five years. He referenced his “raw, unique talent” that “perfectly reflects the spirit of our brand”.
Burberry has linked up with a raft of British and Irish famous faces to promote its products, particularly since Daniel Lee’s arrival saw it doubling down on its British Isles heritage.
But it hasn’t been ignoring international celebrities either and its most recent ambassador announcement before this was award-winning Chinese actress Tang Wei. Her appointment came late last year at a time when the company was anticipating a rebound in the hugely important Asian market in the post-pandemic era.
