CSK IPL 2025 Mega Auction player list: Five-time Indian Premier League champions will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and have retained former skipper MS Dhoni as an ‘uncapped’ player.
Chennai Super Kings have a long and rich history in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After reaching the final in the inaugural season in 2008, CSK won their first title under the captaincy of MS Dhoni in IPL 2010.
They managed to defend their title in the 2011 but had to wait another 7 years for their third IPL crown. In between, CSK were banned for a couple of seasons on the charges of spot-fixing in the IPL. After 2018, CSK added a couple of more titles under the leadership of Dhoni in the 2021 and 2023 season.
CSK’s brand valuation has risen to Rs 1,950 crore over the last 16 years in the T20 league. However, the Chennai franchise failed to progress to the IPL 2024 playoffs by a small margin – finishing level on points with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who clinched the final spot.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, CSK have retained five players – Ruturaj Gaikwad (Rs 18 crore), Ravindra Jadeja (Rs 18 crore), Matheesha Pathirana (Rs 13 crore), Shivam Dube (Rs 12 crore) and MS Dhoni (Rs 4 crore). They will have Rs 55 crore as their team purse in the auction after spending Rs 65 crore in their retentions.
