A man was killed and a woman injured in a stabbing at a home in Pacifica on Thursday morning, officials said.

Officers did not locate the assailant during a search of the surrounding area, according to the department. Vallemar Elementary School, located close to the home where the stabbing occurred, was temporarily put on lockdown out of “an abundance of caution,” the police said.

The stabbing is under investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to call the department at 650-738-7314.

The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office said it is not yet releasing the name of the man who was killed.

Pacifica police did not immediately respond to a request for additional information.
