Best affordable leather sneakers: Rollie Nation launches Wave shoe that rivals Maison Margiela brand

Rollie Nation has launched sneakers made from Italian leather to rival a range of designer shoes.

The Australian independent footwear company is known for combining breakthrough technology with breakout aesthetics but they have outdone themselves with the Wave shoe, which dropped online on September 26.

This elevated dress sneaker is an instant classic, and at $299.95 a pair, is a third of the price of Axel Arigato or Maison Margiela sneakers with a similar design.

Understated, functional and touched with hand-stitched detailing for that custom feel, the Wave shoe is a unisex, year-round wardrobe staple available in black, white, tan, green and pink.

Made in Portugal, each element of The Wave sneaker has been added with considered intention.

The folded top lines with minimal stitching create a soft, uninterrupted, harmonious wave – hence the name – and a blind embossed brand stamp on the tongue adds subtle brand representation.

The hand-stitched outsole and brand icon is there for a bespoke touch and cream soles give a warm retro throwback, moving away from the starkness of white.

It has been designed using premium Italian leather with a leather lining, upper and footbed.

Shoppers – both men and women – can pick up a pair in EU sizes 35 to 46.

It’s already proving popular with just three of the size EU 35 left in the green colourway, just hours after launch.

Founded by designer Vince Lebon in 2012, Rollie Nation revolutionised the footwear industry with its ever-growing range of stylish, comfortable and light sneakers, slides, sandals and boots.
