Best fitness watch for 2024: Amazon has halved the price of my favourite Garmin watch. Here’s why I love it

When it comes to fitness watches, in my opinion there is one company that reigns supreme.

Garmin is the name you’ll find on the wrist of any person who is serious about sport, whether that’s walking, running, swimming, cycling or Pilates.

This week, Amazon has slashed the price of my own Forerunner watch — the 745 — by 50 per cent, reducing it from $899 to $449 for a limited time only.

The watch, which comes in turquoise, red or my own shade of choice, white, is the ultimate fitness companion for those who are serious about getting fit.

I love the Forerunner 745 for many reasons, but principally because it is one of the best watches you can use as a runner.

Not only does it track many advanced running metrics like cadence, stride length and training status, but I can also keep an eye on interesting stats that affect my performance in races — like VO2 max, my training load, the amount of minutes I’ve evercised for that week and my overall body battery.

The watch doesn’t stop there either.

With the Forerunner 745, I can also listen to music on the device when exercising or sync it up with my phone to make payments when I’m out and about without my phone.

It has an impressive battery life of up to one week in smartwatch mode or six hours straight in GPS mode with music playing.

Those who have invested in the watch also rave about it for various reasons.

Easy to use. Meets my exercise needs very well,” one shopper wrote.

“Very easy to use and the app is excellent too. I use this watch everyday as I am a PT and find it very accurate,” another added.

A third said: “Great watch, with many additional features compared to previous versions I have had. Good for suggested training workouts and post activity analysis”.

I’ve owned mine for just under a year, having received it as a gift last Christmas — and it’s still going strong.

I wear it on my wrist every day and don’t need to take it off for swimming or showers.
