I’ve had the opportunity to test out some of the coolest vacuums in my time — including cordless, auto-emptying varieties and we can’t forget the robot options.
And one of my favourite brands on the market that fits the bill across all categories is Shark, which is why I rely on one of its vacuums to use around my home.
It’s quieter than other vacuums I’ve used in the past, doesn’t take up very much space in our small apartment and sucks up dirt seamlessly — basically everything you want from a device.

At the moment, shoppers can pick up the Shark Cordless Vacuum With a Self Cleaning Brushroll for $345, a discount of 37 per cent down from $549.99.
The self-cleaning brushroll actively separates and removes hair from the ground with a unique bristle-guard, helping to leave the bristle brushroll tangle-free.
Owners of the new Shark device will get at least 40 minutes of runtime in standard mode.
There are powerful LED lights attached to the nozzle that reveal hidden debris around your home.
And the detachable handheld vacuum combines with versatile attachments to clean upholstery, shelves and tight spaces.
“I have a heavier duty corded Shark — which changed my world after finally dumping the overrated D word — but since moving into a three-level townhouse I’ve been looking for something easier to carry up and down stairs. This is brilliant,” one reviewer wrote.
“I followed the instructions for the first use to drain the battery completely down so it would ‘learn’ to fully charge but it took me well over half an hour and way longer than I’d need to vacuum three bedrooms and the rest of the rooms, stairs and halls.
“In the end I switched to using the turbo mode just to run the battery down sooner as I was sick of going back over where I’d already cleaned.”
“No cord to get tangled up while vacuuming. Easy to use, love the light on it, different suction available for carpet and tiles and a boost suction switch too,” said another.
A third added: “Love this cordless vacuum. Couldn’t believe the amount of dirt that was sucked out of what I thought was my ‘clean’ carpet. So easy to empty and so easy to change accessories for crevices and upholstery use. The big Dyson can stay in the cupboard!”
