Some people are obsessed with the release of a new movie, or the opening of a restaurant, but on the Best Picks team it’s usually a fashion drop that piques our interest.
And last week all hell broke loose at our desk when Sophie waltzed in on a Tuesday to share that Mister Zimi’s spring collection was due to launch at lunchtime – at around the same time we had a meeting scheduled.
She had her eyes set on the $229 Vivi Dress In Pink Ric Rac, to be worn at an upcoming wedding in Byron Bay, so we agreed to keep our eyes peeled – before and after said meeting – to make sure we didn’t miss out.

Sophie was well aware that Mister Zimi drops sold out quickly, so it was imperative she snap it up ASAP.
Try as we might have done to etch that into our brains, 3pm rolled around, the meeting had ended and we were suddenly struck by the fact we hadn’t checked the website.
“OH NO, THE ZIMI,” I said.
Dramatic as this might seem, low and behold we clicked through to the new collection and the Vivi Dress, which is available in three different shades, was completely sold out.
Instagram comments alerted us to the fact it had been all over in six minutes. Clearly, it’s the dress of the spring season.
Thankfully, the Australian womenswear label took note of the hundreds of devastated customers who missed out and decided to open a pre-order for the Vivi Dress – which is still open – and will ship out in October.
Sophie managed to snap up two dresses when the pre-order was announced, so peace is now restored on our desk.
But it’s certainly not the only firecracker outfit from the Lamu collection.
