One of the best parts of working at Jalopnik is getting to drive and review cars. But, there are other people out there doing reviews on other kinds of vehicles, and they might have it even better.
Over the weekend, I discovered the wonderful world of semi truck reviews, specifically those done by the YouTube channel TRX Express. Now, the channel isn’t specifically for truck reviews. It’s actually a family owned trucking company that does videos on everything related to trucking. From how to replace the starter on a Carrier refrigeration trailer to help with passing a CDL exam, it’s all there.
Among those helpful videos are gems of big rig reviews. These are comprehensive reviews of the latest rigs from all the major manufacturers. The most recent review was on the 2025 Peterbilt 579, a 605 horsepower — the truck is available with either a PACCAR or Cummins diesel engine — class 8 rig with a sleeper cab.
The reviews even go into aspects of the sleeper cab. From the roof height to the measurements of the bunk bed’s mattress, it’s info you’ll probably never need — unless you’re a truck driver of course.
The downside to these reviews? The fact that there aren’t more of them. A search of YouTube will net you a handful, but most channels that have posted them did one or two reviews a few years ago. None are as detailed and helpful as TRX Express. So if you’re out there and you’re a trucker or even a big rig enthusiast, make a channel and get to reviewing. I need more content to watch on the weekends.
