Big Ten passing YPG leader leaving USC

Moss has spent his entire college career with the Trojans since joining the school’s football program in 2021. But after a disappointing 2024 season with USC, which included him losing his starting job in November, the junior signal-caller has decided to take his talents elsewhere.

Despite the benching, Moss still wound up leading all Big Ten quarterbacks in 2024 in passing yards per game with 283.9. With this in mind, and with his experience, he will likely draw plenty of attention in the transfer portal.

Moss and the Trojans opened the 2024 season ranked No. 23, and they surprised a bunch of people when they began their schedule with a big win over LSU, who was ranked No. 13 at the time of the matchup.

During the victory, Moss completed 75 percent of his passes for 378 yards and one touchdown. At first glance, it seemed like USC was going to be just fine in its first season after losing star quarterback Caleb Williams to the NFL.

The Trojans went on to win two of their next three games, and after the first month of their 2024 campaign, Moss was playing like one of the top quarterbacks in the country, averaging 300 passing yards per contest and throwing a total of eight touchdowns and only two interceptions.

Unfortunately, that first month of the season turned out to be the height of USC’s happiness in 2024.

After starting the year with a 3-1 record, the Trojans suffered losses in four of Moss’s next five starts, including a 26-21 loss to Washington in which the USC quarterback threw three interceptions.

Moss was benched after the loss to Washington, and we now know that he will never play another snap in a USC uniform.

In what will go down as his final season with the Trojans, Moss finished the 2024 campaign with a 64.4 completion percentage, 2,555 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions in nine starts.

It certainly wasn’t the type of year that he was hoping for, but by entering the transfer portal, his hope has now shifted to finding a school that can help him finish his college career on a high note.
