On Wednesday, Bindi announced she was joining forces with popular kids cartoon Bluey to narrate an audiobook called The Creek for the Bluey Book Reads series.
On Instagram, the “Wildlife Warrior” and mum-of-one shared a picture of herself along with the words: “Introducing The Creek, read by Bindi Irwin.”
“Watch the full read on Bluey TV,” the post concluded, with the hashtag #BlueyBookReads.
“Love you Bluey and Bingo!” she added in the post caption.
Fans were excited by this new career move, outside of her work with Australia Zoo.
“Crossover of a lifetime, are you kidding me?” one fan wrote.
“I am so excited.”
“WHAT 😍😍 the perfect combo!!” added a second.
“OK, definitely need the Irwin’s on Bluey!!!!” wrote a third.
That prompted one fan to note that Robert Irwin already had a Bluey connection, having voiced the character of Alfie on an episode called The Quiet Game.
“It would be cool if we get Alfie back for a future episode and have Bindi voice his sister!,” another fan wrote in response.
One mum gave some early feedback on The Creek.
“My two-year-old daughter, who is obsessed with Bluey, LOVES these!” she wrote.
“Watched The Creek today and can’t wait for the next one ❤️.”
Another mum said Bindi was now fulfilling a role for her children that Steve and Terri Irwin had performed for her when she was growing up.
“(Bindi’s) parents ‘helped raise me’ through the TV, and now she and Chandler are doing the same for the next generation! ❤️,” the fan wrote.
“Bindi, Bluey and Bingo, what a trio,” noted another.
One enthusiastic fan said Bindi and Bluey was “a dream come true”.
“What …this is a dream of mine come true,” the fan wrote.
“I’ve loved the Irwins since I was a little kid, and now I’m a mummy that loves Bluey!🧡💙”
Bindi recently paid tribute to her father Steve on what would have been his 62nd birthday.
On February 22, Bindi took to Instagram, acknowledging the legacy her famous father had left behind.
“Happy Birthday, dad. Your legacy will live on forever,” she wrote, sharing a carousel of photos.
In one, Bindi and Steve pose with a kookaburra, while in another she sits in a washing basket as Terri and Steve hang clothes out on the line.
“What a beautiful legacy you and your family continue! Phenomenal!!♥️✨🙌✨♥️,” one follower wrote.
“Happy Birthday Steve! Such a great guy and pleased your family are carrying on your legacy ❤,” wrote another.
“A great, legendary man that loved animals and caring for them,” added a third.
“A beautiful family he raised, missed and loved by lots.”
Steve Irwin died at 44, when a stingray’s barb pierced his chest as he was filming an underwater documentary on The Great Barrier Reef on September 4, 2006.
