Birkenstock has opened its latest U.S. retail store in the heart of Boston’s historic Newbury Street, marking its seventh company-owned store in the country.
The new store reflects the brand’s legacy of quality and craftsmanship, incorporating signature materials like cork, felt, and leather into its design. Likewise, a dedicated brand history area showcases 250 years of shoemaking tradition, featuring archive materials and artifacts.
The store houses a selection of footwear for women, men, and kids, including sandals, clogs, sneakers, boots, and socks. It also debuts the new Birkenstock Care Essentials collection, featuring premium foot care products like balms and oils.
To mark the opening, Birkenstock launched ‘The Boston in Boston’, a community campaign captured by local photographer Steph Larsen. The campaign celebrates the iconic Boston clog and the city’s unique character, showcasing how Bostonians bring their personal style to life with Birkenstock.
The store also opens with a collaboration with Boston artist Kevin Mirsky, whose exclusive artwork celebrating Newbury Street and the city’s character will be featured on limited-edition tote bags and stickers.
“Opening our seventh retail store in the namesake city of our iconic Boston clog is a particularly special moment for the brand,” said David Kahan, president of Birkenstock Americas. “Boston’s rich history and contemporary energy perfectly align with Birkenstock’s values of tradition and innovation.”
The Boston store joins Birkenstock’s growing retail footprint, which includes locations in New York City, Brooklyn, Venice Beach, Miami, Marin County, and Austin. The opening also coincides with Birkenstock’s 250th anniversary.
