Black-owned Brands Summer Bazaar in Martha’s Vineyard by Áwet New York

Áwet New York will partner with the DJ Henry Dream Fund for a special summer pop-up event dedicated to supporting Black-owned brands.

The event, titled “Black-Owned Brands Summer Bazaar,” will take place on Aug. 3 from noon to 4 p.m. at The House of the Dragonfly, the home of Danroy T. Henry Sr. and Angella Henry, on Martha’s Vineyard.

The Black-owned brands include Shekudo, Black Joy, The Lulo Project, V.Bellan, Avid Swim and Áwet New York. Each participating brand will donate a percentage of their sales to the DJ Henry Dream Fund, a charity dedicated to providing opportunities and support to underserved youth. The fund offers financial assistance that enables young people to participate in sports, performing arts and summer programs.

In addition, Áwet is partnering with Black Joy and its founder, Chef Ting, to provide fresh, healthy food reflecting the Diaspora.

“We are thrilled to bring together this incredible group of Black-owned businesses and support a cause that is close to our hearts,” said a spokesperson for Áwet New York. “This event not only highlights the creativity and resilience of Black entrepreneurs but also contributes to a meaningful cause by supporting the DJ Henry Dream Fund.”

Áwet Woldegebriel added, “Martha’s Vineyard has become a symbol of Black prosperity and excellence due to its rich history of welcoming communities of color. Now famously known as a summer home to the Obamas, Spike Lee and Oprah, the island offers a different narrative of Black life in America. Our goal with the launch of this bazaar is to build on that narrative.”
