Despite carrying the ‘performance’ suffix, no mechanical changes have been made to the car whatsoever. Powering the 220i M Performance Edition is the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor kicking out 176 hp of maximum power and 280 Nm of peak torque as the other variants on offer. The seven-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission sends the four-door coupe from 0 -100 kmph in 7.1 seconds. BMW also offers the 2 Series Gran Coupe in India with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 190 hp of power and 400 Nm torque.
