BMW iX1 electric SUV launch tomorrow: Specs, range and expected price

BMW India recently announced that it is all set to launch the iX1 in India on September 28 as its latest fully-electric vehicle, making it the fourth EV in the Bavarian luxury carmaker’s lineup after i4, iX and i7. The BMW iX1 will be based on the latest-gen X1 that was launched in India earlier this year.
That said, the iX1 shares the overall same styling as the ICE X1 on the outside, apart from the blue accents on the front grille, front and rear bumpers and side steps. The electric SUV will likely be equipped with a 64.7 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack with up to 130 kW DC fast charging capability.
Globally, the iX1 is offered in two variants: eDrive20 and xDrive30. The former gets a single motor setup making 201 hp and 250 Nm with front-wheel drive, while the latter gets a dual motor all-wheel-drive setup with a combined output of 309 hp power and 494 Nm torque.

The features on offer will likely include a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch fully-digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable front seats with memory and massage function, and so on.
The BMW iX1 offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 475 km. It is yet to be seen which out of the two configurations would the iX1 arrive in India. Pricing is expected to be around the Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, which could make it the company’s most affordable electric car in the country. The BMW iX1 is expected to arrive to India through the CBU route.
