Bomb threat on Air India Delhi to Chicago flight, makes emergency landing at Iqaluit Airport in Canada

New Delhi: An Air India flight from Delhi to Chicago had to make an emergency landing at the Iqaluit Airport in Canada on Tuesday, 15 October 2024 after it received an online bomb threat.

Air India has issued a statement in this regard: “Flight AI127 operating from Delhi to Chicago on October 15, 2024, was the subject of a security threat posted online, and as a precautionary measure, had landed at Iqaluit Airport in Canada. The aircraft and passengers are being re-screened as per the laid down security protocol.”

Earlier, three bomb threats have been received on international flights involving two IndiGo and one Air India flight.

The fake bomb threat was made from an unverified X handle. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is investigating the matter which said, “A total of three planes received bomb threats. One IndiGo plane has been permitted to fly. The two other planes will get permission to fly soon,” as it told NDTV.
