Brian Lara, who has worked closely with Abhishek, reckons he is talented and could go on to play for India soon.
Chandigarh: Young Abhishek Sharma has been in good touch this IPL season and he would be expected to get Sunrisers Hyderabad off to a good start on Tuesday when they take on the Punjab Kings in Mullanpur. In four matches this season, he has already amassed 161 runs at an average of 40.25. But, what stands out and makes him dangerous is his strike rate which is in excess of 145.
He has consistently been getting SRH off to good starts and that has helped him. Ahead of the clash against Punjab, former West Indies cricketing legend Brian Lara, who has worked closely with Abhishek, reckons he is talented and could go on to play for India soon.
“I have worked closely with Abhishek Sharma at the SRH. His game has improved. But now, he needs to remain focused and I will very soon he would play for India,” Lara said in IPL Press Room on Star Sports.
“I am seeing a little bit of success in that area. But again, he needs to score hundreds. People only recognise and remember you when you score big runs and I hope he can do that soon,” he added.
