Brittany Mahomes has taken another swipe at “haters” after she was criticized for allegedly liking a post by Donald Trump on Instagram.

Last week, Mahomes, 28, lashed out critics suffering “deep rooted issues” as rumours swirled that she had given her stamp of approval to “The 2024 GOP Platform” shared by the former U.S. president, in which he promised, among other things, to “deport pro-Hamas radicals,” “keep men out of women’s sports,” and “stop the migrant crime epidemic.”

News of Mahomes’ apparent social media endorsement made news with Newsweek and The New York Post, while several accounts on X shared screenshots and screen-recorded video of the her Instagram handle among the likes on Trump’s post.

“I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood,” the message on Mahomes’ Instagram read. “There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”

Mahomes — who is married to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes — followed up with another post published to her Instagram Stories in which she shared a user’s message that read, “Contrary to the tone of the world today….you can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind.”

Accompanying the repost, Mahomes wrote, “Read that again!”

Mahomes’ alleged support for Trump was met with mixed reaction online, with many people saying they weren’t “surprised” she might be backing the Republican presidential nominee.

“People surprised that Brittany Mahomes is a Trump supporter … I took one look at the woman and knew,” one person wrote.

“Just found out that Brittany Mahomes is apparently a Trump supporter, and I’m not like super surprised, but it is incredibly disappointing to see,” another added.

“I don’t get how people with kids would still vote for a known child rapist/felon. Guess people like Brittany Mahomes prefer the tax breaks over child safety,” a third person wrote, with a fourth adding, “Brittany Mahomes agreeing with Project 2025 but married to a black man with mixed kids is insane.”

But Mahomes’ alleged stamp of approval on Trump’s post got a thumbs up from conservative political commentator Candace Owens.

“Britney Mahomes is under fire, uh, because she liked a Trump post, it’s like a thing right now, I guess … Brittany Mahome has an attitude. She doesn’t care (about critics), and I am here for it,” Owens said during an episode of her Candace podcast (per Newsweek).

“So she liked this post. I think she just said, ‘Hey, I agree with, maybe not all, maybe some, maybe a few of these policy points,’” Owens added. “Given the fact that she’s from the South this certainly doesn’t stress me out or shock me but you know, people that live in the bubbles like on the coast, really do believe that everybody thinks like them.”

The social media saga comes after Trump shared AI-generated images claiming that Taylor Swift — who is friends with Brittany and is dating Mahomes’ teammate Travis Kelce — has endorsed him for president.

Last week, Trump posted several screenshots to his Truth Social page showing women wearing “Swifties for Trump” T-shirts.

Another fake image showed Swift dressed as Uncle Sam and included text saying, “Taylor wants YOU to VOTE for DONALD TRUMP.”

“I accept!” Trump captioned his post.

Some people online wondered if the ensuing drama could affect Mahomes and Swift’s relationship heading into the fall.

“This season is gonna be awkward in the stadium suites with Brittany and Taylor Swift,” one person joked.

Swift has made no endorsement in this year’s U.S. presidential race, but in 2020, after Trump tweeted threats at George Floyd protestors in Minnesota, she accused the commander-in-chief of “stoking the fires of white supremacy” and promised to use her voice against him in that year’s presidential election.

“After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? When the looting starts the shooting starts’???” the pop star tweeted.

She then tagged Trump with a promise: “We will vote you out in November.”

The message racked up millions of views and became the 14-time Grammy winner’s most-liked post on the platform.

In a 2019 interview with The Guardian, Swift said Trump was “gaslighting the American public,” adding that “he thinks this is an autocracy.”

Her then-new outspokenness came after Trump beat Hillary Clinton in 2016. Following his win, Swift said she was “really remorseful” for not being more open with her political views that year.

Meanwhile, Mahomes’ husband has stayed on the sidelines when it comes to politics.

The three-time Super Bowl winner told Time magazine in April that he didn’t “want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president.”

“I want people to use their voice, whoever they believe in. I want them to do the research,” the NFL star said.
