Brock Purdy’s brother, Chubba, gets scholarship offer from Cal

There’s a chance Brock Purdy won’t be the only quarterback in his family to play for a Bay Area team.

Chubba Purdy, Brock’s younger brother, announced on social media he’s received a scholarship offer from Cal just days after leaving Nebraska and entering the transfer portal.

The younger Purdy, 22, said he’s also received offers from North Texas and TCU, where ex-Cal coach Sonny Dykes runs the show. He gave no indication when he’ll make his decision.

The Bears currently have three quarterbacks in their program, including incumbent starter Fernando Mendoza, a redshirt freshman. However, Cal coach Justin Wilcox has publicly stated he’d like to bring in another veteran quarterback to Cal’s quarterback room.

Should Purdy choose to play near his brother in the Bay Area, he’d also join two other scholarship signal-callers in Berkeley –- North Texas transfer Chandler Rogers and prep signee EJ Caminong, a standout from Garfield High near Seattle.
