Facebook Marketplace is just full of surprises and delights. Often we come across some really special stuff that’s for sale, stuff you’d think would be listed somewhere a little more serious, like this Mitsubishi Pajero Evo.
If you’re not in the know about how special the Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution is, let me educate you; A homologation special built for the Pajero’s entry into the Dakar Rally’s T2 class from 1997-1999, the Pajero Evolution was based on the second generation, two-door Pajero we never received in the U.S. Power came from a 3.5-liter 275 horsepower V6 paired with an four-wheel-drive system with front and rear Torsen differentials. The Pajero Evo also looked the part, with big fender flares, mud flaps, a hood scoop and unique rear wing.
This particular 1997 Pajero Evo was imported by the owner a year ago. They say they haven’t had a chance to drive it as much as they would have wanted. Save for some white Braid Dakar wheels it’s entirely stock. There’s also no issues with it and the owner says things like the four-wheel-drive system and low ratio work fine. There was some timing belt work done back in ’19 which the owner says was about 7,000 miles ago.
They’re asking $36,000 which isn’t bad considering how rare it is. Just 2,500 were ever made over two years. If you’re not willing to part with that much cash, the owner says they’re willing to trade for it, specifically a four-door BMW M3 or M5.
