Bengaluru: A shocking incident has emerged from Bengaluru where a 30-year-old software engineer, who ordered food from a major online aggregator, was allegedly sexually harassed by the delivery boy at her home. The incident took place in AECS Layout near Brookefield on March 17. As per the woman, the harrowing incident took place after she had ordered a dosa from a nearby restaurant. “As a courtesy, I asked him (the delivery boy) if he wanted some water to drink. He said yes. I went in and gave him a glass of water after which he left,” she said.

The delivery boy, in his 20s, again knocked on the door and requested the woman to use her washroom. ‘Ma’am can I use your washroom? It’s very urgent,’ he said. After using the washroom, the accused delivery boy again asked for water, to which the victim agreed and asked him to wait near the door. The food delivery boy followed the woman into the kitchen and grabbed her hand after muttering something. The woman started shouting, “I started shouting at him asking what was he up to and why he’d come to the kitchen. As he was still holding my hand, I took a frying pan and hit him on his back. He ran out of the house. I ran behind him up to the lift, but he took the stairs and escaped,” TOI quoted the victim as saying.

According to the victim, the delivery boy was wearing a face mask, which he pulled down to the chin. The women immediately called police helpline number 112 and a team from Whitefield police station attended her complaint and suggested her to lodged a complaint.
“The delivery boy spoke to me in broken Hindi and English, but I am not sure which language he spoke when he came to the kitchen and approached me,” TOI quoted the victim.
Woman Sexually Harassed In Bengaluru: Delivery Boys Not Allowed In The Building
After the incident, it was decided by the occupants that no delivery boys will be allowed in the building premises for the safety of the women.
According to police, the CCTV cameras, installed in the building, have captured the accused. He was later identified as Akash B and police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused him.
“The online firm didn’t respond quickly to my complaint. They didn’t share his mobile number and other details even after I reached the police station. When I was on a call with the firm’s customer care, they overheard a police officer suggesting that I should write the company name, after which they revealed his phone number,” the victim said.
