Nicolas Baretski, who left Montblanc in September 2023, is joining Christian Dior, the flagship brand of LVMH, which has been led for the past year by CEO Delphine Arnault. Now it’s official. The luxury house has confirmed the information revealed by the American magazine WWD. The former head of the German brand known for its famous pens has been appointed to the newly-created position of deputy managing director in charge of commercial activities.
The manager has worked for the Swiss luxury group Richemont for thirty years, the last ten years of which he was at Montblanc. He will take up his new position at Dior on April 2, while also joining the company’s executive committee. He will report directly to Christian Dior Couture CEO Charles Delapalme, while the presidents of the various geographic regions will report to him.
Nicolas Baretski will be responsible for the performance of retail, the Dior Academy, wholesale and hotels, and retail development. In addition, he will share with the management of digital and omnichannel, as well as customer development with Olivier Bialobos, the deputy managing director in charge of global communications and image.
After graduating from HEC business school (Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales), Nicolas Baretzki has spent his entire career at Richemont, starting at the jeweller Cartier, where he held various management positions for eight years. He announced his departure from the group after thirty years in an emotional post on his LinkedIn page.
In 2002, he moved to Jaeger-LeCoultre, where he headed up global sales under Jérôme Lambert. He then moved on to A. Lange & Söhne, Lancel and finally Montblanc, where he became executive vice-president for sales in 2013. When Jérôme Lambert was appointed CEO of Richemont in 2017, he replaced him as head of the German label.
