New York: Now that India has beaten USA on Wednesday and become the second team to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8s, they would be facing Australia on June 24 at St. Lucia. Both Australia and India are unbeaten thus far after three games. India is in Group A, while Australia is in Group B. The ICC has pre-seeded India and Australia as A1 and B2, so wherever they finish on the Points Table, they’ll face each other on 24th June.

While it would be good opportunity for India to avenge the 50-over ODI World Cup 2023 loss, Australia would most certainly start slight favourites against Rohit Sharma’s men. All in all, it would be a mouthwatering clash between the two cricketing heavyweights.

Both sides boast of some of the biggest names in the world of cricket. While Rohit will lead India, Mitchell Marsh is in charge of the Australian side.

It would be interesting to see how the pitch in St. Lucia plays as the one in Nassau County in New York has grabbed all the attention for the wrong reasons.

Against the USA on Wednesday, chasing 111 to win, India got off to a disastrous start as they lost Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early in the piece. Saurabh Natravalkar picked up both the wickets before claiming the crucial wicket of Rishabh Pant as well. But once Surya and Dube got together there was no looking back for India as they cruised home.

Earlier, pacer Arshdeep Singh was brilliant with the ball while taking four wickets as India restricted the USA to 110/8. Nitish Kumar (27, 23b, 2×4 1×6) batted well in the company of former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson (15, 12b, 1×4, 1×6) after the USA were asked to bat first. For India, Arshdeep (4/9) and Hardik Pandya (2/14) were the best in the park, picking up six wickets between them.
