New arrival: Nina joined the cast of Doctors earlier this year and was described as a 'maddening' new character

New arrival: Nina joined the cast of Doctors earlier this year and was described as a ‘maddening’ new character

One penned: ‘How strange. She’s barely started. I wonder if this was the actress’s decision or the producers. To be honest, the character wasn’t working at all.

‘I wouldn’t be surprised if her contract just wasn’t renewed. Hopefully Kirsty will soon follow her out the door. Her attempt at a Brummie accent is so bad it distracts from the storytelling.’

A second wrote: ‘She’s only just been added to the intro more or less. That only happens when you sign a longer contract, so I reckon something has gone a bit [pear emoji] shaped.’

A third said: ‘Oh no I really liked her’ followed by a heart emoji.

A BBC spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Wendi will continue to be on screen so fans should keep watching to see how her storyline plays out.’

Wendi’s character captivated audiences from the beginning when she joined the show in February.

After ruffling feathers from the offset, she surprised everyone by revealing she was the new partner and consequently, the new boss.

Speaking in November about joining the soap, Wendi said: ‘I am thrilled to be joining the wonderful Doctors team to play Dr Nina Bulsara – a woman on a mission who always seems to get what she wants!’

Wendi has not mentioned anything on her socials and instead was watching Kylie Minogue at BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Leicester on the weekend.

The actress is best known for playing loud and brash Cilla Battersby on Coronation Street.
