Coronation Street spoilers – Paul receives tragic news in death story

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Paul Foreman has received the tragic news that his friend Shelly has died in Coronation Street.

Last Friday’s (September 15) episode left off with Paul trying to call Shelly just as paramedics were rushing into her flat.

This week was supposed to start off on a happy note for Paul and Billy with their stag dos, where phones would be banned. At the same time in tonight’s episode (September 18), the police turned up at No.7 to speak with Bernie.

The police revealed they’d discovered a possible fraud ring Shelly was involved in – and viewers know Bernie was working with Shelly to shift high-end technological equipment to help fund care for her MND.

Bernie was soon stunned to learn from the detectives that Shelly had died the previous night. She made the choice to go over to the Bistro to tell Paul the truth during his stag do.

When Gemma and Chesney questioned why she’d found out from police, Bernie scrambled by insisting their investigation had nothing to do with her and she now needed to focus on Paul.

Paul eventually got to speak with Shelly’s carer, Jim, and learned that his dear friend had no family to arrange her funeral.

Without hesitation, Paul stepped up and promised he’d help organise the funeral as a way to pay tribute to his friend.

The tragic events weighed heavily on Paul’s mind as he confided in Todd that he doesn’t want to die the way Shelly did.

Paul wants to take control of his assisted dying plan, but while Todd was clearly uncomfortable with the plans, he was sworn to secrecy.

Will Todd come clean to Billy?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
