Their characters Chandler Bing and Monica Geller famously fell in love on the group’s trip to London and went on to marry and welcome two children.

“I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day,” Cox’s Instagram tribute began on Wednesday morning.

“When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share.

“For now here’s one of my favorites.

“To give a little back story, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one-night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story.

“In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say.

“He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind 🤍🕊️.”

Also sharing a tribute was co-star Matt LeBlanc who played Joey Tribbiani, the roommate and best friend of Chandler Bing.

Posting a series of stills from the show, LeBlanc called it an “honour” to work with the late comedian and actor.

“Matthew, it is with a heavy heart I say goodbye,” he said in poignant Instagram post on Wednesday morning.

“The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life.

“It was an honour to share the stage with you and to call you my friend.

“I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never.

“Spread your wings and fly brother, you’re finally free. Much love.”

LeBlanc ended his message with a reference to their Friends characters.

“And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me,” he said.

Cox, LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston were all spotted at Perry’s funeral on November 3 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles.

The five actors released a joint statement, obtained by People, days after Perry’s death was confirmed.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew,” it read.

“We were more than just cast mates.

“We are a family.

“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able.

“For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

The message was signed by Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc and Schwimmer.

The six actors were famously close and supported one another across the 10 years of filming and beyond.

Perry wrote in his memoir Friends, Lovers And The Big Terrible Thing that the six of them were “like penguins”.

“Penguins, in nature, when one is sick, or when one is very injured, the other penguins surround it and prop it up,” the late actor wrote.

“They walk around it until that penguin can walk on its own. That’s kind of what the cast did for me,” he said of his struggle with addiction.
