Cricket World Cup 2023: Bumble launches ‘Cricket Fan’ badge in India

Bumble has launched a new limited edition ‘Cricket Fan‘ badge that will be available in India throughout October. The badge is designed to help members of the community express their love for cricket and potentially connect with others over upcoming matches.
Sports, particularly cricket, play a significant role in the dating experiences of Indians. With the upcoming cricket tournament, Gen Z and Millennials are extremely excited about the game. According to Bumble’s recent study, 78% of Indians surveyed believe that cricket matches are perfect for dates. Additionally, 75% of Indians surveyed state that they actively search for a romantic partner who has an interest in sports before deciding to pursue a relationship with them.
“We want to empower people on Bumble to showcase and discuss things that they are passionate about. By adding our limited edition ‘Cricket Fan’ Badge on your profile, you can highlight your love for the sport, or use it as a great ice-breaker to start a conversation with your connection! As you gear up to watch and support Team India in the upcoming matches, we hope you find meaningful connections through the game!” said Samarpita Samaddar, India Communications Director, Bumble.
Bumble recently updated Community Guidelines aimed at promoting authentic, respectful connections on its platforms.
These rules include banning artificial influence through automation, prohibiting doxxing and personal information sharing, discouraging no-show behavior, and addressing victim blaming/shaming. The company is also defining sexual assault as unwanted sexual contact and cracking down on adult content promotion. Violating these guidelines may lead to platform access revocation. Bumble Inc. employs machine learning models to enforce these rules, blocking over 8.2 million accounts in 2023.
CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd emphasizes transparency, equity, and safety. The guidelines reflect the company’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive experience for its members.
