A South Australian restaurateur has called out a customer who left a “rubbish” review after dining at his restaurant, in which she described the food as overpriced and the portions as too small.
The review was left for new Mediterranean restaurant Olive, located in Adelaide’s CBD, which was opened in November by Masterchef contestant Callum Hann and dietitian and chef Themis Chryssidis.
Emma, who posted the review on OpenTable, described the food as “overpriced small portions”.

She said the kingfish crudo she ordered was too small and that it “would have been good to have an option of a salad or potatoes to share”.
“There were a handful of olives on the table, but perhaps some bread too would of (sic) been nice. At least then I wouldn’t have been hungry.”
She rated the restaurant two stars out of five.
On Thursday, a day after the review was posted, Chryssidis took to social media, calling out Emma in a lengthy post.
He claimed the customer was informed by staff the food she ordered wouldn’t be enough, but that she “refused to listen”.
Chryssidis said she could have ordered bread from the menu cooked by the restaurant’s “skilled chefs” if she felt she was still hungry.
“There are three salads on the menu,” Chryssidis said.
‘We just don’t call them ‘salads’ as they are more than the basic salad you make at home. The whole menu is designed to share. You could have purchased one of these ‘salads’ to share.”
The restaurateur then claimed Emma had booked two tables of four instead of one table of eight to avoid having to pay a $69 fee for Olive’s Feed Me Menu — a requirement for bookings of seven people or more.
“Let’s be honest, I’m not sure we were the problem here,” Chryssidis said.
“I have to stop reading these rubbish ‘reviews’ for my own mental health.”
The restaurant has an overall rating of 4.5 stars on OpenTable.
