Cyclist fighting for life after crash at Ashfield intersection, in Sydney’s inner west

A 58-year-old man is fighting for life after he was hit by a car while cycling in Sydney’s inner west on Sunday morning.

He was at the intersection of Milton St and Norton St in Ashfield when the crash occurred about 10.50am, NSW Police said.

The rider suffered head, and body injuries, and was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

More than 10 emergency crews attended the scene.

The 24-year-old man who was behind the wheel of the car was uninjured, and taken to Canterbury Hospital for mandatory testing.

The driver of the car was charged later that afternoon with causing bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle and not stopping at a red light.

He was also charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

His licence was suspended and he was granted conditional bail.

He is set to face Burwood Local Court on December 17.
