Danville Brewing Co. plans expansion to Pleasanton

Danville Brewing Company, an award-winning brewery based in Danville, has plans to expand to Pleasanton with a new structure built from the ground up.

The new space is expected to be between 9,000 and 10,000 square feet, says owner Marcus Maita. Located at what’s currently an empty lot at 3595 Utah St. in Pleasanton, the new brewery space will include more space for making beer, a taproom and an outdoor beer garden, he says.

It’s still early — right now the team is “going through the tedious stuff” of working with planners, architects and contractors — and they’re hoping to have the new space ready in under two years, Maita says.

The expansion will allow the brewery to increase its volume and reach a broader audience, he says. Currently, the brewery makes enough beer to serve the brewery and 15 to 20 additional restaurant, bar and store accounts, he says.

The brewery specializes in West Coast IPAs, lagers and Hazy IPAs, but the team of brewers often experiments with new styles of beer, and has won awards in doing so. For instance, Granny’s Tipple, an 11% ABV barleywine, has nearly sold out for the season and won silver at the Great American Beer Fest, he says.

The Danville spot, which opened in 2016, also offers a robust menu, with items like fish and chips ($22), fish tacos ($14), ahi nachos ($16), squash bruschetta ($14), and a selection of burgers, salads and bowls ($16-$20).
