More motor racing-meets-fashion news. David Gandy Wellwear is collaborating with Formula E race team Jaguar TCS Racing to create the team’s official travel kit for the 2024 season.
The collaboration reflects their shared ethos “for championing technology and innovation”.
The team – which comprises mechanics, engineers and commercial operators – will now have the Gandy touch with the fashion brand creating three bespoke clothing designs, a zip hoodie, tapered heritage joggers and a cotton crew T-shirt. They all come in the team’s base colour (black) and personalised with a custom Jaguar TCS Racing logo.
The hoody and joggers have been reimagined using Wellwear’s Restore mineral-infused fabric “which aids body recovery”. Body heat is absorbed by the inner layer of the fabric and reflected back to the wearer in the form of far infrared rays (FIR) helping muscles relax, “which in turn increases blood flow, sending nutrients, oxygen, white bloods cells and antibodies around the body, strengthening the metabolism and repairing damage”, we’re told.
The T-shirt is also enhanced with Wellwear Breathe, an anti-odour and anti-bacterial treatment that uses nanotech to reduce the number of bacteria on the fabric for more wearing and less washing.
The collection was introduced during Jaguar TCS Racing involvement in the season finale of the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship last weekend in London.
Earlier this week, Superdry cemented its relationship with FIA Formula E team Envision Racing in a combined sustainability promotion, urging fans “to consider the environmental impact of their fashion choices”.
