The Bangladeshi authorities received a legal notice over power agreements with India’s Adani Group.

Barrister M. Kaiyum requested the relevant authorities to cancel the ‘one-sided’ agreements. He sent a letter by post on November 5.

The barrister stated in a letter that the authorities must take the matter for immediate reconsideration and or complete cancellation.

The officials of Bangladesh Power Development Board and secretary of energy ministry have been asked to respond to the notice in three days. An agreement was signed with Adani for power purchase in 2017. 

Bangladesh has been receiving power from Adani’s 1600 MW power plant in Jharkhand.
