Vinesh Phogat CAS Hearing Verdict LIVE Updates: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was one of the last ones to leave the Paris Olympics 2024 Athletes Village on Monday (August 12). The Indian was disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 women’s wrestling 50kg category final for being 100g overweight on the second day of weigh-in. Subsequently, Vinesh filed a petition in front of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) arguing that she deserved to win a silver medal at least for reaching the final when she was deemed to be within her weight limit. Apart from four pro-bono French lawyers, Vinesh is also represented by the top legal minds in this country, Harish Salve and Vidushpat Singhania. The CAS ad-hoc division, set up, especially for dispute resolution during the Games, had accepted Vinesh’s appeal against her ouster on Friday. If CAS rules in Vinesh’s favour, she will be awarded a joint silver in the women’s 50kg freestyle category.
