A pair of die-hard Port Adelaide fans are not letting the fact they have been priced out of airfares stop them from travelling to the preliminary AFL final in Sydney on Friday.
Lee McEwan and her mother, Alice Lyall, 76, have been members of the South Australian football club for 25 years and were determined to get to the game against the Sydney Swans at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
But economy airfares from Adelaide to Sydney start at $385 one way and go up to $688.

Luckily, McEwan found an alternative travel plan — but one that is going to be exhausting for them.
They will catch a coach from Adelaide to Melbourne on Thursday, before another coach ride from Melbourne to Sydney to arrive just in time for the game on Friday.
They will then catch a train from Sydney to Melbourne on Saturday and a bus from Melbourne back to Adelaide on Monday.
McEwan said her family and friends have called her “psychotic” and “crazy” — especially considering her mother has had a double hip replacement in the past five years — but both women are happy to make the gruelling trip to see their beloved team play for a place in the grand final.
“I just love them so much,” Lyall said.
McEwan is also looking on the bright side, having saved hundreds of dollars to see her team in action.
The entire trip has cost them just $500 each, including tickets to the game and accommodation.
McEwan said the atmosphere of the game will also make the long journey worth it.
Kick off for Friday’s game is at 7.40pm AEST.
