Team India were bowled out for their third lowest total in the 92-year Test history, scoring just 46 on Day 2 of the 1st Test vs New Zealand in Bengaluru.
Team India were bundled out for their third lowest total in 92 years of Test cricket as they were bowled out for just 46 on Day 2 of the 1st Test against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday. After the entire first day’s play was washed out due to rain, skipper Rohit Sharma elected to bat first on a damp surface on which every single Indian batter struggled.
There were a total of 5 ducks – India’s second-most in a Test innings – with the likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin all failing to open their accounts. The fans on social media were quick to compare this dismal show to their home IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 49 all out against the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2017.

Incidentally RCB were led by Virat Kohli in that forgettable outing. Kohli posted his 38th duck in international cricket, the third most by any Indian batter.
India’s lowest Test score remains the 36 all out against Australia back in December 2020 against Australia in Adelaide. Their second lowest total is 42 against England at Lord’s in 1974. Rohit Sharma’s side failed to get past 58 runs it scored against Australia and England in 1947 and 1952 respectively.
