Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley at WWE SummerSlam 2024
Liv Morgan defeated Rhea Ripley with an Oblivion on a steel chair. The Oblivion came when Dominik distracted the referee, and after the Liv Morgan win, he seemed pleased with himself, signaling he had a change of heart.
Rhea walked to the ring accompanied by Dominik Mysterio, but Mysterio kissed Morgan after the win and they left together.
“Domink, you sorry two-timing son of a b—h!” said Michael Cole of Dom.
The story of the match was Rhea Ripley re-injuring her shoulder and valiantly battling through after she finally got her hands on Morgan. Ripley popped her shoulder back into place multiple times throughout the match.
Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan has been a bedrock feud for WWE SummerSlam 2024, even with Rhea Ripley injured for most of it (shoulder). The feud served as Liv Morgan’s coming out party. In 2022, Liv had a feel-good Money in the Bank win that she parlayed into a cash-in that same night, where she won the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship from Ronda Rousey. But the moment proved to be too big for Morgan, or at least WWE didn’t give her a proper chance to prove she was worthy of it.
Fast forward to the Liv Morgan Revenge Tour of 2024, and Morgan has done the best work of her career, and arguably the best work of anybody on the roster. Cinematic Liv vowed to take everything from Rhea Ripley, and she did just that by winning the Women’s World Championship. Liv then engaged in a hot pursuit of Ripley’s boyfriend Dominik Mysterio, who just about folded before Rhea Ripley returned.
“I have feelings for Dominik, and Dominik has feelings for me, too,” said Morgan during a heated exchange on the July 22 broadcast of WWE Raw. “Do you want to know why you can’t deny that, Rhea? It’s because gorgeous men like Dominik, he doesn’t go for girls who look like you. Gorgeous men like Dominik go for girls that look like me.”
In addition to WWE’s storyline between Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley and Dom, WWE has woven in all the pieces of the Judgment Day as this storyline forces the viewer to question where their loyalties lie. All members of the Judgment Day vowed to compete solo, but the storytelling suggests that Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest are vulnerable babyfaces. And among the many scenarios that can come about when the dust clears, the most likely could be Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio atop the Judgment Day after Priest and Ripley are screwed out of it.
