Dream Home winners Rhys and Liam Almond have revealed their plans after winning the inaugural season of the show and pocketing $100,000 in prize money.
On Tuesday, the Queensland brothers managed to deliver a knockout tropical backyard renovation, scoring 37.5 out of 40 to claim the title of Dream Home champions.

Only half a point separated Rhys and Liam from runners-up, Lara and Peter Bird, who scored 37 out of 40 for their Belrose backyard during the nail-biting finale.
Liam’s dilapidated Deception Bay Queenslander received a stunning renovation on the show, with the property now estimated to be worth a staggering $1.6 million.
On Wednesday, the brothers made the surprise announcement to 7NEWS.com.au that they plan to sell the renovated home from the show, and do it all again with a new home improvement project.
“We’re looking to sell our current renovated home on the sunny coast to buy a new renovation project, and I’m planning to spend some much-needed family time without the stress of bringing in some income for a little while,” Rhys said.
“We’d like to find another reno (renovation) project and also just focusing on our next milestones in life, like getting married and having another baby,” Liam added.
The cash prize was much needed by the brothers, as Rhys had sacrificed time with his young family to help Liam after rising interest rates put Liam’s renovation plans on hold.
“Taking $100,000 off my mortgage is going to be life-changing for myself and my family,” Rhys said of the prize money.
“That means the world to me.”
Dream Home judges Lana Taylor, Simon Cohen, and Rosie Morley unanimously praised the pair’s backyard design and layout during the grand final.
“Boys, I felt like I’d stepped into a complete oasis. You absolutely created a tropical dream out there, perfect for a Queensland setting,” Lana said as she took in the transformation.
“You created a whole separate living area, which is just a massive tick for any family home,” Simon added.
Rosie loved the pavilion’s scale in relation to the home, saying it all “worked in harmony”.
The brothers said their families were thrilled by the win.
“(My partner) Cass is absolutely stoked! She’s so proud of us boys and what we achieved,” Rhys said.
“(The reno) was hardest on Cass the most, and we knew that we potentially could go home with nothing, so to get the win is our dream come true,”
Meanwhile, Liam added: “(My partner) Shenn is so excited for us and the future. We got this amazing head start on life and we can focus on growing our family and planning a wedding.
“Our family is so glad Rhys and Cass got the 100k for their family! They mean the world to us, and we’re so glad we got the win for them so they didn’t go home with nothing.”
The brothers said the show even helped them reconnect as family.
“Rhys and I are mates, but we got to be brothers again, living under the one roof. Doing this with Rhys was one of the most meaningful and exciting things about the competition,” Liam said.
“We’re coming away from this very proud of every moment, and we’re both walking away as winners,” Rhys said.
