Puri: Here’s some exciting news for travellers! Keeping in mind the upcoming festive season, the Eastern Railway has just launched a special train service that will run between Kolkata and Puri. The launch of the special train from the Indian Railways is in line with an effort to accommodate the expected surge in passengers during the popular festivals of Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.
Additionally, with 13,000 extra seats added, the special train journey promises to be comfortable and hassle-free, as per a report by the Financial Express.
Kolkata-Puri Special Train: Schedule And Timetable
- The Kolkata-Puri Special train (03101 ) will leave from Kolkata station at 23:50 hrs on every Thursday between October 3, 2024 and November 28, 2024 and is scheduled to reach Puri at 09:35 hrs on the next day.
- Similarly, the Puri-Kolkata Special train (03102) is expected to leave Puri at 15:00 hrs on every Friday between October 4, 2024 to November 29, 2024 to reach Kolkata at 02:00 hrs the next day.
Kolkata-Puri Special Train: Route Details
The Kolkata-Puri Special Train train will stop at Andul, Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road stations in its journey both ways.
Railways To Install AI-enabled CCTV Cameras on Locomotives
The Railway Board will install CCTV cameras equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology on every locomotive and at key yards to address the rising incidents of rail accidents across the country, according to officials.
In a press briefing at Prayagraj Railway Junction, Railway Board Chairperson and CEO Jaya Verma Sinha said these cameras will help detect any unusual situations,
“We are installing CCTV cameras with AI technology on every locomotive and at all significant yards,” she said.
Regarding railway track safety, Sinha said security agencies will continuously monitor the tracks during the Kumbh Mela to ensure no antisocial elements damage the tracks. Reviewing preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela, Sinha expressed confidence that infrastructure and capacity expansion projects will be completed before the event.
She noted that during the last Kumbh Mela in 2019, around 530 special trains were operated. For the main bathing event in Kumbh 2025, approximately 900 special trains are expected to run.
