The Indian cricket team, known as the ‘Men in Blue,’ commenced their World Cup campaign with a hard-fought victory over Australia. One noticeable aspect of India’s playing XI was the inclusion of three spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja.
As India gear up to face Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, there is speculation about whether they will once again field a squad with three spinners or make adjustments.
Harbhajan Singh offered his perspective, stating, “It will depend on the pitch. If the match takes place on a pitch like Chennai, then three spinners can play, regardless of the opposition. This approach could apply against Pakistan, despite their reputation for playing spin well, or against South Africa, who historically struggle against spin. Even in a game against Afghanistan, if the pitch permits, then three spinners should play. If not, India has a world-class seamer like Mohammed Shami waiting on the sidelines.”
As India prepare to secure back-to-back victories, the team is focused on final preparations ahead of the match.
Key players, including India’s captain Rohit Sharma, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, bowler Shardul Thakur, and batter Suryakumar Yadav, were seen honing their skills during practice sessions.
In their World Cup opener in Chennai, India faced a batting crisis. They found themselves at 2/3 before staging a remarkable comeback, largely thanks to Virat Kohli’s 85 and KL Rahul’s 97, securing a six-wicket victory over Australia.
