Ahead of the highly anticipated Met Gala, Melissa reveals to Daily Mail what and who to look out for to really enjoy the evening affectionately nicknamed fashion’s biggest night.

Tonight’s Met Gala theme is ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ and the dress code is ‘The Garden of Time,’ leaving it up to interpretation for the attendees and their stylists.
‘Ninety-nine point nine percent of what’s being worn is never supposed to be worn in real life and you wouldn’t be able to wear it in real life,’ explains Melissa.
‘It’s the art side of fashion. You have to really appreciate it, and that’s what’s so wonderful about it.
‘Does that mean people don’t come in and look absolutely ridiculous? No, they still look absolutely ridiculous,’ she jokes.

‘You can absolutely hate something but you can understand the concept behind it.
‘What people not in the fashion business don’t understand is that so much of it is looking at the construction, the needlework, the pleating etc… the artistic part of it.
‘The amazing fabrics being used that you know some nuns in a convent at the top of a mountain somewhere on a tiny island in Italy have been producing for the last 200 years,’ she jokes.

‘Most people change out of their gowns because you cant sit in these.
‘The after party dresses are what’s fun for me when people actually dress like themselves – which is sometimes not a great idea.’
