Farm Rio, the Brazilian fashion and lifestyle brand is set to open a new store in the following weeks, at the crossroads of Westmount Drive and Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.
After a long series of pop-ups in Los Angeles and Montawk, the brand founded by Katia Barros and Marcello Bastos in 1997, opened its first California boutique in June 2022 on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in L.A’s Venice neighborhood.
Initially launched as a small booth at the Babylonia Feira Hype, an independent fashion market in Rio, the brand quickly became one of the most recognised fashion brands in Brazil. Since then, Farm Rio has been trying to conquer the American market for several years. In 2019 the brand opened its first flagship in New York, at 113 Prince Street in the city’s Soho district, followed by another opening in Miami.
The brand, which belongs to Grupo Soma and has a network of 75 stores in Brazil and soon four in the United States, hopes to continue its expansion in the North American and global markets. The brand plans to continue launching pop-up stores, as it did recently at Liberty in London and Bon marché in Paris. Farm Rio has collaborated with Havaïnas, Adidas, Levi’s, Yawanawa and distributes some one hundred models each year via Anthropologie stores.
