For the first time, the internationally recognised conference on sustainable fashion, organised by the Global Fashion Agenda (GFA), will take place in China. The event is scheduled in Shanghai on November 7, where it will be hosted as a gala during the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
The event is set to coincide with the CIIE, which runs from November 5 to 10, and will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC). This venue also regularly hosts major Chinese textile and apparel fairs such as Intertextile and Chic in March and August.
This inaugural event in China, featuring keynote speeches and round-table debates, aims to build on the themes discussed at the recent Global Fashion Summit held in Copenhagen from May 21 to 23.
“The gala aims to raise awareness about sustainable development in the fashion industry, showcase innovative practices and technologies, address pressing issues and solutions, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and inspire action towards achieving sustainable development goals,” the GFA outlined in a statement.
Launched by the GFA in 2009 during the COP15 in Copenhagen, the Global Fashion Summit has grown into a prominent platform for discussing sustainability in fashion. With previous editions hosted in cities like Singapore and Boston, this upcoming summit in China marks another important milestone for the organisation’s global outreach.
